The Local Area around Rhiw Ddu Holiday Cottages  In the Area Rhiw Ddu Cottages are situated in an elevated position in the village of Gwynfe, looking onto the Black Mountain (not to be confused with the Black Mountains). Within the Brecon Beacons National Park it enjoys unspoiled views of lush green valleys, welsh hills and panoramic landscapes. There are good shops and excellent pubs within short driving distances and the market towns of Llandovery and Llandeilo nearby. There are many tourist attractions within reach including the Red Kite Feeding Station in the village of Llanddeusant itself, Carreg Cennen Castle a few miles away and the popular and spectacular Dan Yr Ogof Show Caves over the mountain. If you fancy a walk why not take the track up to Llyn-y-Fan Fach where 'The Lady of the Lake' folk tale is derived as well as the legend of the Physicians of Myddfai. You can see the easily recognised sharp escarpment of the Carmarthen Fans above the lake from the windows of Rhiw Ddu.
